It's so fun to catch up with old friends, and we simply don't do it often enough!
Friday night, Daddy went out with "Uncle Wes" and our good friend Blake Kerley while Mommy stayed home with Sam and played. We had so much fun together! We read 8 books and Sam even slept from 8:45p-6a just for Mommy. He loves demonstrating his newest trick, sitting up, for Mom and Dad! He is now pulling himself up out of his infant seat and while lying down on the bed. Our little boy is getting so big and strong! Just a matter of time before he’s going to be all over the place. :-) Babyproofing is now on the agenda for our little family!
Saturday, we headed to Nashville (Gallatin) for Jonathon's fraternity brother Robert Sloan's wedding. Jonathon and I have loved this family for lots of years as Robert's younger sister Amy is my little sister in Delta Gamma and one of my dearest friends. It was fun spending time with Pi Kapps from the good old days. Sometimes it even felt a little like we were back in the house over on Spottswood (the new one came into play after we had already graduated... wow, we're getting old!). I also got to sneak in a Lebanon outlet trip where I got some fun Fall things for Sam at Baby Gap and Gymboree Outlet. I purchased his first Christmas presents... two sets of Curious George board books and "Merry Christmas, Curious George" that he will open on Christmas Eve and our little family will read together. Sam LOVES books and has to touch and turn every little page.
Sunday was spent driving home from Nashville and napping in shifts after we picked up and kissed on our sweet baby. Jonathon and I laughed and laughed about all of the funny stories from the night before. Mommy and Daddy are not used to getting to bed after 3am! We are definitely older but still just as fun. :-)
Jonathon and I are both in for busy weeks ahead but are so glad we took the time to hang out with friends this weekend. The older we get and the larger and busier our families grow, the more challenging it becomes to make time for friends. We both agreed we were going to make a stronger effort to do this moving forward. Spending time with friends (and away from the baby as hard as it seems at times) only makes us better individuals, a stronger couple and better parents.
Hope everyone has a great week!
