First Tummy Bug :-(

Sweet little Sam has been battling his first tummy bug this weekend. It's been so hard to watch our precious boy feel sick for the first time (other than a cold a couple of months back). Grammy normally keeps Sam on weekdays and was out of town Thursday/Friday of last week, so Daddy took off both days to spend time with Sam while Mommy worked. I decided to take Friday off as well so that we could enjoy the pretty weather together and attend Zoo Boo, the circus and more this weekend.

Our plans quickly changed when our sweet boy was sick three times before 9a on Friday morning. He couldn't keep anything down and was running a fever of 101. We decided to let Dr. Miller see him just in case so that we could nip his sickness in the bud. After looking at his ears to ensure no infection and taking a little blood and confirming at all looked great there as well, she let us know Sam had acquired a viral stomach bug and to work at keeping his fever down and giving him lots of liquid the next 24 hours. Friday night, Sam's fever got all the way up to 104 which was terribly scary. We called the nurse on call and she suggested alternating Tylenol and Motrin to get his fever down and visiting the ER if it did not go down after an hour. Thankfully, the Tylenol/Motrin combo worked well and we avoided what I know would have been a not so fun ER experience.

Sam has slowly been regaining his appetite and has spent many hours this weekend snuggled up with Mom and Dad. We had a busy weekend planned, but our world indeed stopped so that we could dedicate very minute to our sick little baby. Thank goodness, his fever now is just low-grade and he's been eating much better today (still not quite back to his old self). We're hoping our little pumpkin will be back to 100% this week just in time for Halloween. :-) He's been showing us some fun new tricks this weekend- continuing to wave bye bye and really CRAWLING with his hands and knees. He has gotten so fast! Look out world!

He weighed in at just over 18 pounds at his Friday doctor visit... We love our little chubs! :-)
