I can’t help but think that little grin will be seen more and more by Mommy and Daddy in the coming years!! Sam seems to be “all boy” already with his little personality and habits and it’s been so much fun to watch Sam’s distinctive personality traits develop. Here are a few personality quirks Mommy and Daddy have noticed about our handsome little man:
• Sam has to be held facing outward most of the time and will straighten his legs and get mad if he even THINKS you’re trying to rock him to sleep. During the day, will only sleep on someone’s chest, in his swing, or occasionally in the car. He is always fighting and outsmarting sleep! Grammy says this is because he’s nosy. :-)
• Sam loves to read. His favorite book is “The Little Engine That Could” and he also loves “If You Take A Mouse To School”, “Corduroy,” “Are You My Mother?” and “Guess How Much I Love You.” He does NOT like “The Poky Little Puppy.” Whenever Mommy stars the book “Five little puppies went up a hill…” he cries! So funny!
• Sam LOVES to watch ceiling fans- on or off. Mommy jokes about taking him to Lowe’s one day to explore the ceiling fan aisle. His little baby paradise!
• Sam hates the sun and acts VERY dramatic when stepping outside. Good thing he has some little baby sunglasses (with a neck cord) and likes wearing them. :-)
• Sam is somewhat of a flirt and probably a future womanizer. He loves to smile and giggle (especially in the mornings after a good meal) and loves to imitate Mommy and Daddy’s “surprised” faces.
• Sam hates pacifiers! I read all of those books about avoiding pacifiers to establish a successful nursing relationship and I was so paranoid he would be a “paci addict!” But no, he hasn’t liked them since his first couple of weeks at home!

And some physical traits we’ve noticed as well…
• Sam grabs EVERYTHING! His favorites are his burp cloths, rattles, and especially lovies (AKA his “buddies” as pictured above).
• Sam is drooling, drooling, drooling in obscene amounts. Come on teeth!!!
• Sam’s newborn hair has fallen out and his new straight, blonde hair is really coming in! What a cutie he is!
• Sam is rolling, rolling, rolling and becoming increasingly mobile! He rolled over one-sided at about 3 weeks old and loves rolling over from tummy to back on his activity gym.
• Our little boy is growing so fast and quickly approaching 14 pounds! We will get an official weigh in at our 4-month checkup July 7.
• We’re getting ready for solids! Sam is becoming increasingly curious about solid food and has still been eyeballing what Mommy and Daddy eat. We’re going to try only a spoon and see how he does followed by just 1 tsp of rice cereal once a day (none in bottle). If his digestive system does well, we will begin gradually increasing his solid food intake along with the milk he's currently getting. Mommy is still nursing (wahoo!) and hoping to continue expressing milk until Sam reaches 6 months old. About 2 1/2 months to go!
