If it is on, I must turn it off.
If it is off, I must turn it on.
If it is folded, I must unfold it.
If it is a liquid, it must be shaken, then spilled.
If it a solid, it must be crumbled, chewed or smeared.
If it is high, it must be reached.
If it is shelved, it must be unshelved.
If it is pointed, it must be run with at top speed.
If it has leaves, they must be picked.
If it is plugged, it must be unplugged.
If it is not trash, it must be thrown away.
If it is in the trash, it must be removed, inspected, and thrown on the floor.
If it is closed, it must be opened.
If it does not open, it must be screamed at.
If it has drawers, they must be rifled.
If it is a pencil, it must write on the refrigerator, monitor, or table.
If it is full, it will be more interesting emptied.
If it is empty, it will be more interesting full.
If it is a pile of dirt, it must be laid upon.
If it is stroller, it must under no circumstances be ridden in without protest. It must be pushed by me instead.
If it has a flat surface, it must be banged upon.
If Mommy's hands are full, I must be carried.
If Mommy is in a hurry and wants to carry me, I must walk alone.
If it is paper, it must be torn.
If it has buttons, they must be pressed.
If the volume is low, it must go high.
If it is toilet paper, it must be unrolled on the floor.
If it is a drawer, it must be pulled upon.
If it is a toothbrush, it must be inserted into my mouth.
If it has a faucet, it must be turned on at full force.
If it is a phone, I must talk to it.
If it is a bug, it must be swallowed.
If it doesn't stay on my spoon, it must be dropped on the floor.
If it is not food, it must be tasted.
If it is food, it must not be tasted.
If it is dry, it must be made wet with drool, milk, or toilet water.
If it is a carseat, it must be protested with an arched back.
If it is Mommy (or Daddy), it must be hugged.
I am a toddler!
Seriously feel like I could add a pic and narrative to each one of these lines, but here are a few of our little Toddler in action. :-)
Pushing-LOVES to push anything and everything he can find, around the house or otherwise. Riding toys, strollers, even tries to push the BIG trash can outside!
Brushing- Loves to brush his hair (and Mama’s) but hasn’t quite grasped where the toothbrush goes just yet (still puts it on his hair- SO CUTE!)
Dancing- Think we have a little dancing machine on our hands! Sam loves to bend his little knees and clap to music. Caught him doing this in Old Navy a few weeks ago and have seen him busting a move more and more… Love it!
Showing love- Sam is such a loving little boy and I have to say this is the trait Mama is most proud of. He loves to give kisses to favorite characters in his books (particularly penguins- his favorite animal) and also kisses and hugs to his parents and grandparents. Love to watch him lean in- sweet thing!
Teeth- Sam now has approximately 8 teeth, including one of his four back molars (others are currently cutting through- HEAVEN HELP US! :-))
Reading- Still LOVES books, but only his favorites. Therefore, we’re reading the same ones over and over very often! Favorites right now are anything Touch and Feel (especially with zoo animals or puppies) and any of the Karen Katz lift the flaps.
TV- Sam doesn’t watch much TV (which makes Mama happy) but his favorite shows to watch bits and pieces of are Little Einsteins, Chuggington, and of course, his all-time favorite, BARNEY!
Favorite Foods- I’ll bet you’re expecting to read Teddy Grahams or Mac and Cheese here but our sweet boy LOVES black olives, cucumbers, black beans, strawberries and cantaloupe! Yummy! Give him a Greek or pasta salad and he’s in baby heaven. :-) He also loves scrambled eggs with cheese, mini pancakes and waffles and really anything else everyone else is enjoying!
Size- Still tall and lanky! Wearing mostly 18 months and some 12-18 months, still Size 3 diapers and Size 4 shoes.
Words- Several variations of “Mama” and “Dada” including his current favorite- “MA” in an Italian accent (think “MA, THE MEATLOAF!” from Wedding Crashers… ha!), “car”, “shoe,” “ball,” “dog,” “duck,” “hot”, his first phrase “BAD DOG” and his first animal sound (monkey) which came last weekend while reading with Mama… LOVED IT!
Running- Forget walking, toddling and or any form of movement that is synonymous with being slow or careful. Our little man wants to get everywhere quickly and often bumps his noggin and/or scratches up his little knees in the process. ALL BOY!
